10. net10.0 only, C# 14

Date: 2026-09-12

Status

Accepted

Context

Unhindered access to recent performance APIs, and no conditional compilation.

Decision

We will target net10.0 only, with C# 14.

Consequences

  • Rejected — multi-targeting net8.0 (a double matrix, performance APIs unavailable). To be reconsidered only if a real consumer is stuck on LTS.

Recorded as D09 before this project adopted Architecture Decision Records; the identifier still appears in commit messages and in CLAUDE.md.
